The first phase of the placement drive at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad has been an overwhelming success. The online drive, held in the first week of December, witnessed 104 companies making 466 offers, including 34 international ones. The second phase will take place in January 2022. Rs 65 lakh was the highest package offered, while the average package was Rs 23 lakh.
This year, the phase 1 of the drive witnessed 210 companies registering as compared to 116 last year. In fact, last year, the entire placement process witnessed a total of only 195 companies registering. A total of 650 students had registered for placements across departments. Ten startups together made 36 offers.
Phase 1 witnessed 427 students being placed, including those who received pre-placement offers (PPOs). This is significantly more than the 305 students who were placed last year, which included 49 PPOs.
The entire first graduating batch of interdisciplinary MTech programmes has been successfully placed.
Meanwhile, at IIT-Bombay, 1,201 job offers have been made, with the Rakuten Group making the maximum number of international job offers, that is, 26. About 240 companies have hired till now.
Companies such as Qualcomm, Samsung Research Institute and Intel were the other popular recruiters. The maximum package worth Rs 2.05 crores has come from Uber till now. Lucrative offers were also made by WorldQuant (of Rs 51.71 lakh), Millennium (Rs 62 lakhs), and Blackstone (Rs 46.62 lakhs) per annum.
